Small business defends against pricing gossip

03 Apr, 2009 10:43 AM
AS a small business owner in Tennant Creek, we feel compelled to write this letter.

We have for the last 4 years run a small but successful air-conditioning and refrigeration business and do our upmost to provide a professional and comprehensive service to the residents of Tennant Creek and its surrounding areas.

We take pride in our workmanship and treat every customer with respect.

Recently, passing comments have been made accusing this business of being too expensive and trying to rip people off.

We would appreciate that people approach us and discuss the matter, giving us an opportunity to explain the differences in pricing and product.

Unfortunately, some are more prepared to arm themselves with incorrect information and repeat it as though they have the professional knowledge and in their own minds feel justified in doing so.

This type of behaviour and gossip, which reflects small mindedness, can potentially damage a business and a community.

We are honest and work hard to provide quality service and workmanship and are proud of our Territory business.

A large portion of our money is spent within this township or with other Territory owned businesses.

Rarely is money spent with interstate businesses as we truly believe in trying to spend as much of our money locally in the Territory as we can.

This keeps the economy strong and fellow Territorians like ourselves employed.

At times, supporting the local economy is a little more expensive and something we practice, both as a business and family.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers in Tennant Creek and at the end of the day if it wasn’t for you guys we wouldn’t have survived.

We have spoken to many people over the last couple of months and are grateful so many of you have been willing to talk, share your thoughts and inform us of issues important to our business.

We appreciate that you understand the quality of our products and the workmanship we pride ourselves on.

AND please remember we acknowledge bartering is common practice and encourage it!!!
