Rude comments will not be tolerated by health staff

18 Sep, 2009 06:41 AM
ANYINGINYI Health Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) has a range of multi disciplinary staff who enjoy the work they do in the Health Centre working tirelessly and effortlessly to perform their various roles and duties in which they are employed.

All staff at AHAC, including the Health Centre, have a Code of Conduct which they must adhere to when carrying out their daily work duties.

Dealing in a professional manner with the clients who attend the Health Centre is included under the Code of Conduct.

Clients who ‘choose’ to use the AHAC Health Centre should respect staff dealing with their health matters.

At times the Health Centre staff may be required to work under difficult circumstances and will do their best to achieve a quality service for clients.

There have been occasions at the Health Centre when some AHAC health staff members have to deal with difficult behaviour by members of the public.

Recently these incidents have included rude and racist remarks being made to staff and this will not be tolerated.

AHAC has made an effort to support a local business and icon ‘Cheeky Dog’ and recently work uniforms now including the logo.

Each Section of the organisation is being represented by different coloured work shirts that include the AHAC logo on the front and the Cheeky Dog logo on the back.

All staff at AHAC are proud of our new work uniforms, which support a local icon and we wear them with pride in our community.

A rude comment was made by a local business man last week to Health Centre staff about their new work shirts and to this gentleman the Anyinginyi staff would like to say: “You made the decision to access our service we then expect you to treat our service with respect and dignity.”

AHAC has now provided health services to members of Tennant Creek and the Barkly for 15 years and has received a number of positive comments by clients who were pleased with their service.

The organisation is proud of its achievements in Aboriginal health and the services provided especially when we have to fill the gap when there are shortages experienced by other providers.

We look forward to providing an ongoing and much needed service to all residents of the Barkly region.
