I HAVE to reply to the “how good am I” weekly column where our local member writes about himself every week.
Last week he wrote about the agreement between the Henderson Labor Government and the member for Nelson, and the Strategic Indigenous Housing and Infrastructure Project (SIHIP).
1. The Agreement.
How can any person in their right mind believe a political party that is held to ransom by an independent will provide a stable government?
The reality of the agreement is that Gerry Wood, the Member for Nelson and an Independent, whohas NO interest in the rest of the NT other than his own electorate now controls your government.
Gee that’s real stability!
2. Tennant Creek and SIHIP.
The local member failed to mention the original 30 million dollars allocated to Tennant Creek was stand alone money, provided by the Howard Liberal Government in agreement with Julalikari for town camp leases.
It had nothing to do with SIHIP, originally 20 new houses were to be built along with renovations and upgrading of existing housing and infrastructure.
The number dwindled down to nine new houses and now no new houses.
This Labor Government turned stand-alone $30 million for Tennant Creek and put the money into SIHIP.
If your local member wants to argue with this fact perhaps he should listen to our previous MLA who mentioned this on an ABC radio interview on the 31 July 2009.
I have a transcript of the interview if he needs it.
