The race takes place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday 18-19 July.

The race has reached a significant milestone and this year we celebrate 10 years that the event has been held in Tennant Creek.

It is organised by the Alice Springs Cycling Club. Riders from the Alice Springs Mt Isa (Copper City), Darwin and Kununurra Cycling Clubs have registered to attend.

The support of the Tennant Creek community has always contributed enormously to the success of this event, with sponsorship, logistical and spectator support all being provided by the locals.

Here is a great opportunity to be a part of the most famous sporting activity in the world – road cycling, especially whilst the Tour de France is being conducted at the same time.

I encourage everyone to come and watch this exciting racing over the two days.

It would be fantastic to have some Tennant Creek entries.

I would also welcome any volunteers who may wish to assist during the races with time keeping or rider support.

The total prize pool is over $2,600 in cash and equipment.

The format comprises Prologue which begins at 11am on Saturday, 5km out Peko Road, with the finish line outside the Outback Caravan Park.

The 80km Road Race starts at 2pm on Saturday outside the BP Complex Tennant Creek.

All Grades will ride neutrally along Patterson Street until they turn into Peko Road.

On Sunday the action starts at 8.30am, with the spectacular Criterium Races, conducted on the Go Kart Track.

A special presentation and barbecue lunch at the Tennant Creek Gun Club follows the Criterium.

Prize money will be allocated in proportion to the points scored and this money will go to each club to distribute amongst participants in the manner that they determine.
