Team spirit high at NT 8 Ball Titles

3/07/2009 12:22:00 PM
TENNANT Creek eightballers travelled to Katherine recently for the NT Titles and a great time was had by all.

Team spirit was great, unfortunately we didn’t do as well as we hoped but the experience has helped us to improve.

The Open Men’s team finished fourth, beating Katherine in a thriller.

Best for the Men’s were Yanni and Crouchy with great support from 12 (Pete Mullan) and 13 (Simmo).

Simmo has now requested that for all eightball occasions for the next 12 months he will only answer to the name 13.

The ladies team improved on their play from last year, their best players were Sonnette Johnson and Tania Sammy.

The ladies team also found ways to amuse themselves in between games by playing practical jokes involving a moving tribute to Pete Mullen’s car and a vicious attack on Yanni’s ute involving 200 metres of Gladwrap.

Super glue was also used to stop beer cans opening which scared the hell out of Simmo.

In the Men’s Reserve side, best players were Wheelie and Jerry Shadforth with Jerry named as a reserve in the NT side, a great debut for Tennant.

Thanks once again to our major sponsors - the Goldfields Hotel, Memorial Club, Outback Outfitters, A1 Contractors, Elliot Hotel and Smiley once again for the use of his car.

In the local league the race for the finals spots is on with the ladder as follows:

Elliott 24/146, Golddiggers 20/122, RSL 19/143, Barney’s Mob 14/109, Pyros 12.108, Fig Jam 1297, Longhorns 11/112, Goldies 11/111, Janapurlalki 10/80 and The Scrubs 9/108.

Thanks very much to Roz Acland from the Bowling Club for putting up with us eight ballers over the years.

Sorry we didn’t make it to the send off, but thank you very much for your support.

A super league has been started on Sundays at the Memo Club for the elite players to hone their skills in match situations. For details, see Crouchy.

Players wishing to be selected for the Tri Towns Titles at the end of the month in Coober Pedy need to attend.
