LOCAL junior cricketer, Matthew Green, returned home from his odyssey to Barooga with a silver medal as part of the NT 12 and under rep side competing at the School Sport Australia national carnival.
In their first game the NT took on SA, with the opposition batting first and posting a score of 145 after 50 overs.
In their chase the NT were 4/74 after 25 overs, 6/135 of 48 overs setting up a great finish.
NT got its winning runs in the 49th over with Josh Hetherington from Darwin scoring a fine half century.
Matthew contributed with the ball, bowling 4 overs returning 1/17.
Game 2 was against the ACT.
NT batted first and after 50 overs had reached 8/165, with Matthew’s cousin Dylan Mullen posting a fine 55.
ACT were bowled out for 93 with Matthew again contributing with a wicket.
The third game would see undefeated NSW take on the undefeated NT.
NSW won the toss and after 50 overs returned 6/166.
Matthew bowling well with 1/12 off four overs.
In their chase, the NT fell 62 runs short. This would put the NT back to equal second on the ladder, setting up an important clash with Qld on day four.
NT won the toss and batted, posting a score of 120 all out. Matthew batted at number 11 and joined Louis Coonan at the crease who was on 47.
Matthew would have to see out three balls or turn the strike over to enable Louis a chance at his 50.

In their chase Qld reached 3/28 after 15 overs, leaving NT well in the game.
Session 2 saw Matthew take 2 key wickets to have Qld at 5/77 after 34 overs.
The 50th over would see Qld needing 7 runs to win.
Nathan Hagan from Darwin bowled a brilliant maiden to give the NT a 3rd win and outright second on the ladder.
In the 5th and final game, the NT took on the winless Victorians. Victoria batted first posting 9/115 after 50 overs.
In their chase the NT were 3/69 after 34 overs and it was game on.
The NT overtook the Vic score in the 49th over to make it four wins from five games.
A NSW loss to SA on the final day would see NT top the standings but it was not to be.
The NT boys returning home with a silver medal. Matthew became the first 11 year old from the NT to achieve this.
Another highlight over the summer was the performance of Ben Reichstein for the NT senior side, NT Strike.
Ben began his junior career in Tennant Creek and was named in the Australian Country team of the tournament.
Back in Tennant Creek, this weekend sees the return of Milo in2cricket for the 4 to 9 age group.
