Bowler rocks it in NT State Championships

11 Sep, 2009 10:01 AM
JIMMY Rueangphong is easily recognised as the lead guitarist of the popular rock band, Unbroken Expanse.

What’s not so well known is that’s he’s just as at home at the local Bowling Club.

He exchanges the stage for the green quite often, playing bowls throughout the week and at every competition.

Last month, Jimmy was one of six Tennantites to contest the NT State Championships held in Darwin.

He and his mate, Mon Mead, competed in the Fours, Pairs and Singles events and then in the open qualifying section where they played pairs and triples.

“We didn’t go so well up there,” Jimmy said.

“The ground was quite different and we were off our home turf.

“But we had a great time anyway.”

Other Tennant players who played in the NT State Championships were Annie Khattiyakul, Pranee Petchmalee, Dave Webb and Geoff Deans.
