There was no doubt Unbroken Expanse was a big hit at the Territory’s premier rock event which attracted a crowd of close to 7000.

The four-member band, all mates from Tennant Creek, belted out seven original rock songs in a 25-minute set.

In its first ever Darwin gig, Unbroken Expanse wowed the audience which danced, jumped, cheered and yelled for them to return next year.

Afterwards, in true celebrity form, the band posed for photographs with fans and signed autographs.

“What a day!” lead guitarist, Jimmy James said.

“Even though it was the biggest stage I’ve ever played on, I’ve never felt more confident in my life.

“We got great feedback from people who loved our show.”

Drummer, Jason Foran, was amazed the crowd was so enthusiastic.

“It was a great feeling to see the crowd really get into it, especially seeing how they have never seen us before.” he said.

Bass guitarist, Chris Parker thought it was good fun to rock out in Darwin and learned a lot from other performers including Gabriella Cilmi, Jessica Mauboy, Living End, Sneaky Sound System, The Cat Empire, Bliss n Eso and Augie March.

Frontman, Wheezy Helmond, said the band’s performance was completely unrestrained.

“It was more intense than an ice-cream volcano,” he said.

“We all had a great time and proved that if Darwin is the new Hollywood of rock and roll then Tennant Creek is the new Los Angeles.”
