TENNANT Creek remains swine flu free even though the virus is spreading faster in the Territory than anywhere else in the country.
A Department of Health and Families spokesperson said there are no confirmed cases from the region.
There are now more than 100 cases of swine flu throughout the Northern Territory with more expected to emerge today.
The viral infection is taking hold in Aboriginal communities such as the Warlpiri area west of Alice Springs and Lajamanu.
This has prompted medical authorities to urge the Government to distribute the flu treatment medication, Tamiflu, to any remote community resident with flu-like symptoms.
To avoid the spread of swine flu, people are urged to wash hands, step away from anyone who coughs or sneezes, to cough or sneeze into tissues then throw them away and to avoid work, school or public gatherings if flu-like symptoms develop.
