THE haunting, sombre sounds of the Last Post trumpeted across the cenotaph at Remembrance Day on Wednesday.
It was the first time in many years that the military bugle call had been played live in Tennant Creek - thanks to the recent arrival of musician Chris Cearns.
The service, which commemorates the armistice which brought World War I to an end, now serves as a tribute to the sacrifices of all members of the armed services during times of war.
This year, following a Welcome to Country by Eddie Taylor, the main address was delivered by RSL Vice President, Kris Civitarese.
Readings included the Prayer for Peace by Paul Quinlan, the Soldiers’ Prayer by Frank O’Donohoo and In Flanders Field by Kate Foran.
Wreaths were laid by RSL President, Ted Wilson and Member for Barkly, Gerry McCarthy after which Primary School children placed hand-crafted poppies at the cenotaph.
