AUSTRALIA’S elite aerial act arrived in Tennant Creek on Tuesday with none of their usual fanfare.
Six red and white Pilatus PC-9 aircraft – the fabulous Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes – flew into town on the quiet for a quick pit-stop.
A few lucky locals were at the airport when the precision stunt flying team landed to re-fuel on their way to an international air show in Singapore.
And even though the dashing daredevils were in a hurry to beat bad weather in Darwin, they took a handful of thrilled onlookers up on to the wings of one aircraft to peek inside the cockpit.
According to one observer, the sleek stunt team showcased their airborne agility while flying over the Primary School on Tuesday morning.
Only six of the seven RAAF Roulettes flew into town with squadron leader Stephen Baker joining the team later on.
Roulette 2 Flight Lieutenant Steve English said the team, based in Sale, Victoria, was on its way to Darwin before heading off to Singapore’s 30th international air show.
“We’re not as well-known over there but it will be an exciting show and we’re looking forward to taking part and watching some fancy manoeuvres,” he said.
