Police close highway after caravan rollover

12 Jun, 2009 10:34 AM
POLICE closed off a section of the Stuart Highway near Elliott on Monday after a car towing a caravan rolled over.

The 63-year-old female driver is said to have lost control after passing another car and overcorrected, causing the caravan to sway.

Police say the caravan slipped over the edge of the road, causing the Toyota Prado to roll and land across the southbound lane.

The driver and her 64-year-old husband were rushed to Tennant Creek Hospital.

The woman was treated for minor injuries but her husband suffered injuries to the spine.

The accident occurred about 40 kilometres north of Elliott.
