Mardi Gras a highlight of Elliott’s social calendar

17 Apr, 2009 11:26 AM
IT’S time to dust out the feather boas and fancy outfits for the Elliott’s annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras theme night next Saturday!

The event was formed in 2005 by a group of locals and aims to raise money for Seeing Eye Dogs Australia.

Last year the festivities raised $1,000 for the cause.

This year local band, The Longtails, will be heading out to the community to entertain the crowd.

Organiser Bob Bagnall, said the Mardi Gras was held on the closest Saturday to Anzac Day, however this year dates coincided.

The fun starts at 6pm next Saturday 25 April with a street parade and celebrations will continue at the Elliott Hotel beer garden.

Cost is $50 per person and includes dinner and a souvenir stubby holder.
