A TENNANT Creek woman is one of 14 finalists in the Telstra Northern Territory Business Women’s Awards.
Clarissa Burgen has been nominated for the White Pages Community and Government Award for employees in government departments, statutory bodies and non-profit organisations.
The business services manager at Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation oversees an annual budget of $7 million in government funding and a further $450,000 in self-generated income.
The coveted awards, which is now in its 15th year, recognises the achievements of women in business across five categories including those in small businesses, government, corporate and not-for profit sectors.
Telstra Product Management Group Managing Director and Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador, Holly Kramer, said entries this year were of an exceptionally high standard.
“The finalists represent some truly inspirational and talented Northern Territory business women,” she said.
“This year has been particularly challenging for Australia’s business community and Northern Territory business women have faced these challenges with tenacity and a positive approach across their diverse range of industries.”
Clarissa, who has been with Anyinginyi since 2004, said she was humbled to be nominated for the awards.
“It’s very exciting and is a huge milestone for Tennant Creek and the Barkly,” she said.
“It is recognition of the contribution remote areas make to the Territory as a whole.”
The awards presentation will be held in Darwin next Friday and Clarissa will be in attendance.
