THE graduation of 20 indigenous trainees in Ti Tree on Wednesday was important to NT’s horticulture industry, according to Minister for Regional Development, Karl Hampton.
The trainees completed their horticulture training at the Ti Tree Research Farm.
Mr Hampton said the Territory’s horticulture industry was growing fast and locally trained workers ready to enter the workforce was vital.
“Over the past 20 weeks the students have been receiving training in various aspects of horticulture,” he said.
“These skills include propagating and growing plants, managing pests and weeds along with farm and horticultural business management.
“Their training was conducted by Graham Klingberg, Nicole Scheominik and Kailas Kerr from Central Desert Training.
“I congratulate all the students on their graduation and I wish them all the best with their future careers in the horticulture industry.
“The students will now visit various farms across the Territory to complete their practical training further enhancing their skills for their future careers.”
This program was funded by the Central Desert Shire Council.
