Fifteen arrested for spate of break-ins and vandalism

10 Feb, 2012 09:40 AM
FIFTEEN people have been arrested after a spate of break-ins and vandalism in Tennant Creek.

Constable Colin Jenkinson said the success rate was due to a zero tolerance blitz on property crime by police and the vigilance of the community.

“By having targeted patrols at night we have identified a core group of property offenders. These people are being investigated with many now either remanded in custody, on bail, or with youth diversion pending,” he said.

Police have recently solved seven outstanding unlawful entry cases. Four people will face court and 11 more are to be considered for youth diversion.

“Our use of proactive patrols and engaging the community have resulted in information that has led directly to a drop in property crime in and around Tennant Creek,” said Constable Jenkinson.

“We all want to feel safe in our homes and on our streets. The zero tolerance approach by police will continue and all the people of our town should be proud that they have contributed to making this possible.”

Call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 to report any suspicious behaviour.
