Choir brings a message from African homeland

19 Jun, 2009 09:52 AM
THE Watoto Children’s Choir returned to Tennant Creek this week, impressing the audience with their soulful, rhythmic songs and traditional African dances.

Performing at the Civic Hall on Wednesday evening, the choir (pictured) is currently on an Australia-wide tour, raising awareness of the plight of children in their homeland, Uganda. More than two million Ugandan children have been orphaned due to disease and war.

Organisers say the Concerts of Hope are a lively demonstration of the life changing love of God experienced by the children of Watoto.

In true Tennant Creek form, locals dug deep into their pockets to raise money for the choir so they can continue their harmonic tour.
