Children nabbed for school vandalism

30 Oct, 2009 09:18 AM
SEVERAL classrooms were trashed when children broke into the Primary School twice last weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday morning children broke into two classrooms where considerable damage was caused as paint, books, toys and other resources were strewn all over the rooms.

On Sunday night at about 10pm patrolling police decided to take a closer look when they noticed classroom lights were on.

One child was apprehended by officers as she fled the classroom and another two were detained shortly afterwards.

That night two girls and a boy aged between nine and 11 years ransacked six classrooms causing about $2500 worth of damage.

Police continue to investigate the matter.

Why isn't the Janitor doing what I had to do back in the "Eighties" when I was the Janitor (and the one and only means of security in the T/CK Primary School, unpaid) in the days before the "security" screens were fitted to the school buildings and paid "security" firms were hired to patrol the School to prevent this problem? I had to take my swag and camp in the classrooms overnight and during the day on weekends to hunt these perpetrators out every time they entered the school grounds and tried to break in, it was a continual occurrence back then and looks like it still is, even with todays "increased policing" in the town and modern security methods these problem people are allowed to remain in action? it looks like the only thing that hasn't changed in town is the amount of wayward juveniles the town fathers allow to breed and prosper there?
