TENNANT Creek High School students have raised around $9000 to subsidise their trip to Cambodia next month.
The five Year 12 students will join other students from throughout Australia on the journey they all expect to be a life-changing experience.
Organised by physical education teacher, Melanie Baldwin, the students will spend two weeks in Cambodia with the Tabitha Foundation.
They will work at an orphanage, help to build accommodation at a remote village, teach English at the University of Phnom Penh and visit local landmarks such as Angkor Wat.
A fundraising night was held at the Bowling Club last Saturday where raffles, auctions, food and entertainment were on offer.
Sean Fitzpatrick, one of the students who will be going to Cambodia, said the event was well attended and helped to raise much-needed funds.
“Everyone was really generous and we’re grateful for that,” he said.
The students have also been washing cars and helped with a stocktake at the Tennant Supermarket in return for a donation.
