AFTER a recess of some years, the NT Chamber of Commerce, now has a local network development officer.
Colin Waller is based at the Shire Council offices on Peko Road.
Mr Waller is already busy on the job and hosted a gathering at the Bluestone last Thursday evening along with Kay Eade, Executive Officer Central Australia.
His duties will be to promote the features and benefits of services provided by the Chamber which supports the needs of businesses by providing a range of services such as industrial relations, advocacy, challenging legislation, local enterprise promotion, event networking, export assistance and nationally accredited training.
Mr Waller will work in a dual role, also managing the Desert Knowledge Australia Outback Business Networks Project for Desert Knowledge Australia.
Through this project, he will establish and promote regional industry clusters of small business enterprises to assist in building robust regional economies.
“Desert Knowledge Australia has established embryo networks throughout remote Australia with spectacular outcomes already being enjoyed by a number of enterprises jointly tendering in partnerships established through the networks,” Mr Waller said.
“These outcomes would have been impossible by these businesses in isolation.”
Mr Waller said Desert Knowledge Australia is currently expanding its network development throughout remote Australia and this expansion would significantly benefit businesses in remote locations.
“Through the Chamber of Commerce and Desert Knowledge Australia, the business community of the Barkly region can look forward to new opportunities, new information and quality assistance,” he said.
