Barkly residents take hat off to Territory story competition

03 Feb, 2012 10:18 AM
DOZENS of locals from throughout the Barkly have donned an Akubra to spin a yarn for the Territory’s Great Hat Yak competition.

There are tales tall and true, funny and blue with an adventure tour as the prize for the best rave.

The prize winner will travel from the tropics through to Uluru, although Tennant Creek will be bypassed, it seems.

Those who have thrown their yak into the hat so far include Dr Fluoride, Jerry Kelly, Susan Wright, William Thompson, Renee Webb, Alba Brockie, Shaun Lyons, Digger Nelson and Jason Foran.

Hat Yak is an initiative of NT Tourism and already features stories from most towns and many communities. It’s not to late if you haven’t told your story yet, so visit hatyak.com for details.
