24 Jul, 2009 11:30 AM
AN Aboriginal Community Police Officer (ACPO) from Borroloola will be recognised for his outstanding work.

In August, Senior ACPO Noel Dixon will be awarded the Administrator’s Medal for ACPO of the Year for 2008.

Mr Dixon joined the NT Police Force as a police aide in 1989 and celebrated 20 years of service this year.

He has served the entire time in the Borroloola region and is one of NT’s longest serving ACPOs.

Adding to his esteem in the community, Mr Dixon is a Borroloola elder, a Northern Land Council board member, a local school council member and a committee member for the Borroloola Rodeo.

Police say his wife Jeanette and daughters Noelene, Virginia and Amelia, along with a number of grandchildren, and the Borroloola Police are very proud of his achievements.

NT Police Commissioner Paul White and Administrator of the Northern Territory, Tom Pauling, will present the medal to Mr Dixon.
